What is Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) is a surgical procedure performed to remove excess skin and fat tissue from the upper arms. Due to aging, genetic factors or weight loss, the arms may sag and this sagging may cause aesthetic concerns. This surgery can increase the person’s self-confidence by providing a tighter and younger arm appearance. By removing the sagging skin and fat, the arms look more aesthetically smooth and fit.

Who is Arm Lift Surgery Suitable for?

Arm lift surgery is especially suitable for the following people:

Those who have significant sagging in their arms as a result of weight gain and loss
Those who have sagging arms that have lost elasticity due to aging
Those who cannot remove excess skin and fat in their arms despite exercise and diet
Those who are in good general health and can adapt to the post-operative recovery process
How is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?

Arm lift surgery is performed by opening an incision on the inside of the arm to remove the sagging skin and fat tissue. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours. Liposuction may also be performed during the surgery if necessary. The surgeon cuts away excess skin and reshapes the arms. Finally, the incisions are stitched and bandaged.

Recovery Process After Arm Lift Surgery

The First Days: Mild pain and tightness may be felt in the first few days after surgery, but these symptoms can be managed with painkillers.
Swelling and Bruising: Mild swelling and bruising may occur during the first few weeks after the surgery.
Use of Medical Corset: A medical corset should be used for approximately 1 month to reduce swelling and help maintain the shape of the arms.
Scars: Arm lift surgery scars may be noticeable at first, but they fade and become less noticeable over time. The doctor’s recommended creams and treatments should be followed to reduce the appearance of the scars.
Results of Arm Lift Surgery

The results after surgery are usually fully visible within 2-3 months. The arms gain a firmer and younger appearance. Although the results are permanent, excessive weight gain or aging processes can lead to new sagging.

What are the Risks of Arm Lift Surgery?

As with every surgical procedure, arm lift surgery carries some risks:

Infection
Bleeding
Anesthesia-related risks
Prominence of scars
Asymmetry or aesthetic dissatisfaction In order to minimize these risks, it is important to work with a surgeon who is an expert in the field and to follow the doctor’s instructions during the recovery process.
Things to Consider After Arm Lift Surgery

Smoking and alcohol consumption should be avoided, as these substances can negatively affect the recovery process.
Heavy lifting and strenuous exercises should be avoided during the recovery process.
Attention should be paid to the wound care recommended by the doctor and follow-up appointments should not be missed.
Does Arm Sagging Improve with Exercise?

Mild arm sagging in the early stages can be improved to some extent with exercise. However, advanced sagging usually does not improve with exercise and requires surgical intervention.
